Rågsvedens Såg AB is the parent company of a successful, family-owned group that runs sawmills and refinement facilities located in the delightful Västerdalarna region of Sweden. The company manufactures wood products in pine and spruce, and focuses strongly on the refinement of own-cut timber. At least half the company’s production is refined in its own facilities, undergoing one or more processes such as drying, cleaving, planing, cutting, surface treatment, finger jointing and component manufacture. In addition to the parent company, Rågsvedens Såg AB, Sveden Wood comprises the subsidiaries DalaList AB and Västerdala Träkomponenter AB. The sister group includes the Bygg & Järn AB trading group, which has facilities in Idre, Sälen, Malung, Vansbro and Hällerfors.

Sawed and refined wood products can never be better than the raw material permits. Rågsveden receives pine and spruce from a single, homogenous area of sand and moraine clay within a radius of approx. 100 km of the sawmill. Here, the trees grow slowly and are never felled until they are much more than 100 years old. These densely grained trees provide raw material of consistently high quality – a level of quality that is passed on to the refined products. The raw material is the first link in the unbroken chain of quality that distinguishes the Rågsveden Group. Through its forestry department, the group provides forest owners with advice and service in the field of quality forestry practices, performs felling, weeding out, planting and other forest management services, and highlights consideration for production and environment so as to ensure greener forestry operations. The business is certified in accordance with FSC and PEFC standards.

 

Our refinement chain unites authentic professional knowledge and modern technology. Advanced computer technology controls the entire process to ensure optimum results. The production of split-free wood products of the highest quality demands knowledge, experience and modern technology and so Rågsvedens Såg has made large investments in drying facilities. Our modern WSAB drying furnaces make it possible to control and monitor the drying process in great detail. Once again, with the aim of achieving the best possible results.
